Women’s Basketball Florida Juco Shootout Recap

On Friday evening in Niceville, FL Indian River State College competed against nationally ranked Northwest Florida State College. In the first quarter, The River outscored Northwest 13 - 8 and went into halftime only down by 4 points. "I know there aren't any moral victories but they're several things I am proud of; we outscore number four team in the nation in the first quarter and forced 22 turnovers on the defensive end" Coach Robinson mentioned.

Northwest State won the first game of the Florida Juco Shootout 63 - 45. Breanna Campbell led the River in scoring 12 points, four rebounds and four assist.

In the second matchup against Florida State College of Jacksonville, the River women's basketball team overcame a slow start to win 70 – 48. Indian River held FSCJ to eight points in the 2nd quarter and 5 and the third. The River benched contributed tremendously scoring 43 points. Freshmen Trio stepped up in scoring for the River, Breanna Campbell contributed 18 points, five rebounds, two assist and two steals. Jaqarra Phillips added 12 and Maryanne Logsdon tallied 12 points and 4 rebounds.

Coach Robinson noted, "Overall I seen some good things this weekend and somethings we have to improve on going forward, we will continue to get better each game leading up to conference play."

The River returns in action Wednesday December 11 in Tampa against Hillsborough Community College at 5:30pm.
