Indian River State College Lady Pioneers Sweep South Florida State

IRSC won both games of a double-header against South Florida State 9-8 and 8-7  on Friday in Avon Park. 

Sophomore pitcher Casey Kurent took the win for Indian River. The righty went four innings, allowing four runs on eight hits and striking out two. Jen Jacobs and Jaden Williamson entered the game out of the bullpen and helped close out the game in relief. Williamson recorded the last three outs to earn the save.

The Pioneers collected nine hits. Shayne Hewitt, Ashleigh Robinson and Payton Cressman each had two hits to lead the Pioneer Offense. 

In two game  Macie Stanfield  doubled off the left field fence driving in the game winning run.

Indian River got things moving in the first inning, when sophomore catcher Maeghan Branche homered on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.

IRSC scored three runs in the third inning on run scoring hits by Ashleigh Robinson, Brooke Mathews and Shayne Hewitt .

Freshman Devan Ryan was the winning pitcher. The right hander went two and two-thirds innings allowing two hits and one run.

Starting pitcher Jaden Williamson  allowed six hits and six runs over four and a third innings, striking out three, and walking one.

Williamson and Daija Torchia each collected two hits to lead the Pioneer offense.
