Pioneers Win On The Road

FORT MYERS, FL - Indian River takes a non-conference game on the road at Florida Southwestern State College (FSW) 16-12. The Pioneers win the slugfest against the lone team above them in the Citrus Conference Standings and improve their record to 24-9. The offense combined for fourteen hits and six which were extra base hits. Sophomores Diego Alana, Vincent Samuel and Matthew Rubin all had three hits for the Pioneers with Alana hitting three doubles and both Samuel and Rubin hitting home runs. Samuel and Rubin also lead the Pioneers we each having four RBI's.

The Pioneer pitching staff to only walk one FSW batter while striking out ten. Freshman Michael Malone gets his first career win only allowing one run while striking out five over three innings of work. 

The Pioneers look to keep the bats going this Thursday as they open up Citrus Conference play at Polk State.
