Pioneers suffer tough road loss to Hillsborough.
River volleyball struggles to find their groove on the road as they lost in straight sets (17-25, 20-25, 15-25) against the Hawks on Saturday, October 7th.
The Pioneers started off to a great start in the first set, taking an early lead at 9-6. The Hawks responded quickly as they slowly chipped away, bringing the match to a tied score of 12-12. From here, the Pioneers could not stop the big push from the Hawks as HCC won the first set 17-25.
The second set looked quite differently than the first. The Hawks jumped out quick with a 7-2 run. The Pioneers battled back as they finally found their rhythm, pushing the score to a two-point deficit 12-14. Unfortunately, HCC pulled away closing out set two 20-25. With the momentum and energy on the side with the Hawks, the Pioneers struggled throughout the third set. In the end, HCC won set three 15-25 and 3-0 on the match.
Next match is PINK OUT for breast cancer awareness at home on Wednesday, October 11th against Eastern Florida State College.
