River volleyball falls to No. 2 Miami-Dade.

The Pioneers exchange rallies with the Sharks, but ultimately fall short in a three-set match (18-25, 14-25, 20-25) on Saturday, September 30th.

In the first set, Indian River and Miami-Dade traded points back and forth until the Pioneers took the lead 6-4. As the match continued, the Sharks battled back but Indian River did not let up, pushing a tied score of 11-11. The Sharks continued to apply pressure going on a five-point run but that did not stop the Pioneers as they responded quickly with a four-point run in return, 15-16. In the end, both teams continued to battle but unfortunately the Pioneers could not hang on as the Sharks took set one 18-25.

Indian River started off to a slow start in the second set as they were trying to settle into place after a couple of changes. Still trying to find their groove, this did not stop the Sharks as they were always one step ahead of the Pioneers. This resulted in Miami-Dade taking set two, 14-25. The third set started off just like the second but the slow start for the Pioneers did not last long as they finally found their flow. The River went on a six-point run, taking the lead by one 12-11. Battling point for point throughout the rest of the set, Indian River continued to fight but ultimately fell short as Miami-Dade won set three 20-25.

The Pioneers will be back in action on Wednesday, October 4th at home against Florida Southwestern @5:30pm.
