Indian River volleyball drops home match against the Falcons.

Indian River volleyball drops home match against the Falcons.

The Pioneers could not hold on as #17 Daytona State Falcons prevailed in a 3-0 win on Wednesday, September the 27th.

Battling point for point, the Pioneers and the Falcons kept things close throughout the first set. Indian River went on a three-point run with two of them being kills from Freshman outside, Katejion Robinson that helped gain a tied score of 22-22. In the end, Daytona State was able to hold on taking set one 22-25.

The second set looked very similar to the first as both teams continued to trade points back and forth. With a tied score of 6-6, Daytona State started to pull away but the Pioneers proceeded to push within two or three points of the Falcon lead. As Daytona State continued to stay one step ahead, Indian River stayed resilient until the very end as they came up short losing set two 22-25. Despite losing the set, Indian River had an impressive hitting percentage of .364 with 13 kills and 1 error.

After two hard fought sets, the third looked quite differently as the Pioneers started slow with Daytona State riding the momentum. Indian River kept on persevering, pushing the score to a two-point deficit 8-10. From here, the Falcons applied tremendous amounts of pressure as the Pioneers struggled to sideout. Unfortunately, Daytona State took set three 12-25 and a 3-0 victory on the match.

The River's next match is Saturday, September 30th at 2:00pm against Miami-Dade back home on the Massey Campus.
