IRSC Volleyball falls to Polk State.

A slow start prevents the Pioneers from being able to capitalize on the road at Polk State Saturday, September 23rd as the Eagles take the match 3-0.

Indian River started off to a very slow start as Polk went on a 9-3 run to start off the match. The Pioneers finally settled in half way through the set and battled point for point. Towards the end, the River went on a 6-1 run but unfortunately, it was too late as the Eagles took set one, 17-25.

The second set looked quite differently than the first as Polk and Indian River traded points back and forth until the Eagles pulled away, gaining a seven-point lead 10-17. With a lot of fight left in the tank, the River continued to push but ultimately came up short as Polk took set two, 19-25.

Knowing the match was on the line, the Pioneers came out with some fire in the third set. Trading blows back to back; Indian River took the lead 8-6. From there, both teams battled until the match was tied, 18-18. Sadly, the Eagles pulled away and took set three 19-25, winning the match 3-0.

The Indian River State College women's volleyball will be back in action at home Wednesday, September 27th @5:30pm vs Daytona State College.
