IRSC Picks up another home win!

Looking to continue their winning way, the Pioneers of Indian River would face off against the Eastern Florida Titans this past Saturday. The stage was set for a very competitive and important match, as these two teams are both competing for a bid to the state tournament.

The match would begin with very high energy on both sides and from the crowd as well. The first game would go back and forth for the first half of the set, but then thanks to some aggressive serving and amazing defensive plays the River was able to string some points together and close the first set with a score of 25-16. The River would continue to carry their energy straight through, charging behind Greta Klotz's 13 Kills, on to the third set after taking the second, 25-21.

Eastern would not be swept so easily as they took the floor for the third game with a new mindset and a new level of emotion. The River would struggle to match. Back and forth the game would go until after a few errors, Indian River found themselves down 18-24 facing a fourth set. A spark of energy would ignite the Pioneers as they charged back nearly catching the Titans before going down 25-23 in the third set.

The fourth set was much like the second, starting out close but thanks to Mallory Roney's 13 Kills and 14 Digs, Indian River was able to quell the surge from the Titans. They finished off their conference opponent in four sets, with a final score of 25-22.

Additional Notable performances were Re'Na Ashley (8 Kills, 2 Blocks) and Jasmine Sayre (2 Assists, 23 Digs)

The River moves to 5-6 Overall and 4-3 in the conference after this win. Their next match is at #5 Miami-Dade on Tuesday, September 21 at 6PM.
