IRSC Splits in Double Dual Action
FORT PIERCE, FL - The IRSC Swimming and Diving team kicked off the second half of the season with their first competition of 2024 on Wednesday, January 3rd as they hosted Grand Valley State University (GVSU) and Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). The River swimmers and divers secured a win against RIT, but against GVSU in the final event where the winner of the event would win the meet, The River came up short.
For the women, sophomore Sophia Diaz was a double individual event winner taking the 50 fly and 100 fly events. Freshman Nika Tomic also won her two events in the 50 and 100 backstroke. Diaz and Tomic were both members of the winning 200 medley relay team with teammates Ana Villamil and Sara Safranko. Other event winners included Alexandra Andueza (1M diving), Ane Meier (100 free), Ana Villamil (100 breast), and Sara Safranko (100 IM).
Josh Parry
In the men's event Josh Parry and Kito Campbell secured two individual event wins each with Parry taking the 50 and 100 fly while Campbell took the 50 and 100 breast. The 200 medley relay team won the first men's event of the day which consisted of both Parry and Campbell as well as teammates Gabriel Morales and Riccardo Pandin. Other event winners came from Riccardo Pandin (50 free), Gabriel Morales (100 back), and Thomas Ferguson (100 IM).

The Pioneers compete next on January 12,2024 when they host Nova Southeastern and West Chester at IRSC with an 11:00AM start.
