Tough Loss at Home for Indian River Women’s Basketball

FORT PIERCE, FL- Indian River Women's Basketball hosted Eastern Florida in a third-round matchup on Saturday, February 17th.

The River started off to a great start as they closed out the first quarter trailing the Titans by two points. In the second quarter, the Pioneers battled to continue their hot start but could not find their groove as they struggled to score offensively, only tallying eight points. After halftime, the Pioneers gave one more big push to close the Eastern lead but fell short, losing 76-59. 

Freshman Jordan Boddie scored 18 points, sophomore Kailyn Peters contributed 17 points, and sophomore Brialle Washington scored 12 points.

The Pioneers are fighting to remain in the top five in order to clinch a spot in the Region VIII State Tournament. A lot is on the line for The River, as they've been to the tournament three consecutive years. With an overall record of 15-11, 9-8 in Citrus conference play, Indian River will continue their push Wednesday on the road at Hillsborough Community College, 5PM tip-off.
