Team Effort Secures Win for Indian River Women’s Basketball

FORT PIERCE, FL - Defending their home court, Indian River Women's Basketball defeated Miami Dade 75-74. Miami Dade jumped out to an early lead and continued to apply pressure throughout three quarters before the Pioneers fought back.

The Pioneers found themselves down by 15 points in the fourth quarter before their defensive efforts allowed them to get back into the game. In the end, the Pioneers were down by one point. Freshman Markhyia Davis created a steal with 30 seconds remaining, making a way for sophomore D'yanna Maxey to make the game-winning layup to secure the win.

"In the fourth quarter, we played Indian River basketball. The attention to detail, grit, and togetherness are what allowed us to win this game. I am proud of our team for finding the time to get it done," Coach Robinson noted.

Freshman Jordan Boddie scored 26 points, and Brialle Washington added 11 points and five rebounds. JaMya Robinson contributed another double-double, tallying 17 points and 10 rebounds.

With the win, the Pioneers are 14–10 overall and 8-7 in Citrus Conference play. Indian River will hit the road Thursday, February 15th, to face off St. Petersburg College.
