Hot Start Fuels Team Win for Women’s Basketball

FORT PIERCE, FL- Indian River women's basketball hosted Saint Petersburg College in a Citrus Conference matchup on Tuesday, January 23rd. Three Pioneers reached double figures as IRSC defeated SPC at home 73-64. The Pioneers outscored the Titans 21 – 7 in the first quarter, allowing them to earn their sixth conference win. 

Sophomore Brialle Washington led IRSC in scoring by tallying 19 points for the night. Freshmen Markhyia Davis added a career-high of 10 points and Sophomore Kailyn Peters came off the bench contributing 13 points.

"All year we talked about our bench being ready when their names are called and tonight, Markhyia Davis and Ida N'gonda answered the call," Coach Robinson noted. Davis and N'gonda combined for 19 of the Pioneers 74 points.

With the win, the Pioneers are 12 – 6 overall and 6-3 in Citrus Conference play. The Pioneers are back in action on January 25th at Miami Dade and January 27th at home against Eastern Florida.
