Women’s Basketball Defeats Miami Dade on the Road

MIAMI, FL-  Indian River women's basketball program traveled to Miami Dade for a first round Citrus Conference matchup. The Pioneers would outscore the Sharks 24 – 15 in the fourth quarter to secure their 11th win of the season.

Throughout the game there was 16 lead changes and 8 ties. Miami Dade came out on fire shooting 75% from behind the arc and dominating the board. MDC efforts caused for the Pioneers to struggle to get going through the first three quarters. A dominate performance in the fourth allowed for the Pioneers to defeat Miami Dade 71-64.

Freshmen Jordan Boddie led all scorers with 21 points and six rebounds. D'yanna Maxey contributed 20 points, five steals, two assists and rebounds. JaMya Robinson and Kailyn Peters both added 10 points apiece.

"Miami Dade is always a tough environment to play in, our defensive efforts in the fourth is what allowed us to win this game," Coach Robinson noted.

With the win, the Pioneers are 11-4 overall and 5-1 in Citrus Conference play. The Pioneers will close out a three-game road stint at Eastern Florida on Wednesday, January 17. Tip off is set for 5:30pm.
