Women’s Basketball Defeats Daytona State on the Road
DAYTONA BEACH, FL - Indian River Women's Basketball traveled to Daytona State for a Citrus Conference matchup on Saturday, December 16. Early in the first quarter, Indian River used a 15 – 7 run to take a 30 – 15 lead. Offensively, the Pioneers started the game scorching hot, shooting an impressive 75% from the field. In the second quarter, the Pioneers did not stop their dominance as they outscored the Falcons 28 – 21 taking a 58 – 36 lead at halftime.
"I am proud of how we started the game off today, we've been having talks about everyone showing up at the same time and today we did just that. Our bench production was amazing to watch, [Ida Lusadisu] N'gonda and [Jordan] Boddie had huge games offensively that helped us secure another conference win" Coach Robinson mentioned.
The Pioneers had three players in double digits. Jordan Boddie led all scorers contributing 24 points, five rebounds and three assists. Brialle Washington added 17 points and four rebounds while Ida Lusadisu N'gonda came off the bench on fire shooting an impressive 100% from the field tallying 12 points for the Pioneers.
With the win, the Pioneers are 4 – 0 in conference play and have an overall record of 8 – 3.
Indian River will be back in action December 29th and 30th at the IRSC New Years Classic. The Pioneers will face DME Academy at 6:00pm on the 29th and Bishop State at 12:00pm on December 30th.
