Women’s Basketball Splits 1 – 1 at Tallahassee Tournament

Friday Night Indian River State traveled to Tallahassee, FL to compete against Mississippi Gulf Coast in a highly contested matchup. In the first quarter, MGC jumped out to a 22 – 10 led before The River settled in going into halftime only down by 2 points. In the second half, the Pioneers made some key mistakes in crucial moments that cause the Bulldogs to take the lead for good defeating the River 75-64.

Jasmine Peaks Led the River in scoring contributing 31 points, four rebounds and four assists. Freshmen Jordan Boddie added 14 points and three rebounds.

"We made some key mistakes on the defensive end which caused Bulldogs to score couple back to back field goals late in the fourth quarter. We will take this game and learn from it and continue to get better, Coach Robinson."

In the second game the Pioneers earned their first win of the season defeating Tallahassee 67-51. The River took the led early in the first quarter and never looked back. The Pioneers had 3 players in double digits, led by Brialle Washington who scored 19 points, four rebounds and three steals. Jordan Boddie added 19 points and three rebounds. Sophomore Kailyn Peters tallied 10 points, six rebounds and two assists.

With the win, the Pioneers are 1 – 1 on the season. The River home opener is Friday November 10th at 3pm against St Thomas JV.
