Indian River Women's Basketball Remain Undefeated in Southern Conference Play.

Wednesday evening in fort pierce, Indian River State College Host Conference rivals Florida Southwestern. In the first matchup, Indian River defeated FSW 71-53 to earn win number one in Southern Conference play.

The FSW Bus came out ready for revenge, leading the Pioneers by 4 points going into halftime. The Bucs led grew to 12 points early in the second quarter but the Pioneers fought back to remain undefeated at home. The River would use a 30-7 run to defeat FSW 71-65, earning their 4th win of southern conference play.

"In the first half we weren't defending at the level we know we're capable of which caused for FSW to go up on us by 12. At halftime we spoke about getting stops and making away instead of an excuse. I thought we came out and did that. This group will to win is what propels us" Coach Robinson noted.

The Pioneers had four players in double digits, George Mason Signee Tavi Habib had 19 points and seven rebounds, Rapuluchi Ngorka tallied another double double with 16 points and 18 rebounds. Claire Simmons had a huge game off the bench for the Pioneers scoring 13 points, three rebounds and three assists. Freshmen point guard Jasmine Peaks added 11 points.

With the win, the Pioneers are 4-0 in southern conference play with an overall record of 20-3. The Pioneers next conference game is February 1st at Miami Dade.
