Women’s basketball Goes Undefeated at Rudolph Roundup Tournament

In the first matchup, Indian River State College defeated Denmark Tech 101 – 46. The River jumped out to a 26 – 10 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. The River had four players in double digits, led by sophomore forward Rapuluchi Ngorka who contributed 21 points and 16 rebounds. Janiah Alexander added 16 points, five rebounds and five assists. Anteresa Dickson tallied her first career double double at the River with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Tavi Habib scored 10 points and five rebounds.

In the second matchup, Indian River defeated Daytona State 66 – 53. A defensive second half powered Indian River to their ninth win of the season. The River held Daytona to five points in the second quarter, going into halftime ahead 32 – 20. In the second half, the Pioneer went up by nearly 20 points. Four players scored in double digits, Rapuluchi Ngorka added 13 points and 16 rebounds, Makala Torrence contributed 12 points shooting 50% from the 3pt line. Jasmine Peaks and Shomari Phillips added 10 points apiece.

On the final day of the Rudolph roundup, Indian River defeated Chipola 83-79. The pioneers got off to a slow start which cause them to trail majority of the game, until the final 2:00 minutes. Sophomore shooting guard Shomari Phillips hit clutch 3 to put the Pioneers up for good. Jasmine Peaks sealed the game by hitting two freethrows with 2.7 seconds left.

The Pioneers had four players in double digits Rapuluchi Ngorka led all scorers with 20 points and 15 rebounds, Shomari Phillips contributed 19 points and three rebounds, Tavi Habib added 16 points and four rebounds, Jasmine Peaks scored 15 points.

With the wins, the Pioneers are 10-2 on the season. Next game will be Wednesday December 14^th at 6pm against Santa Fe.
