Pioneers Drop Two at FSW Tournament

Friday afternoon at Florida Southwestern, Indian River State College defeated Odessa College 85 – 73. The Pioneers outscored the Wranglers 44 – 31 in the first two quarters, at the start of the third pushed their league to 20 points outscoring the Wranglers by 8 points.

Freshmen Tavi Habib scored 27 points and 7 rebounds, Maryanne Logsdon tallied 17 point, five rebounds and four assists. Brianna Raynor made her presence known in the paint scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore shooting guard Breanna Campbell added 12 points and 11 rebounds.

In Saturday Afternoon Matchup against Gulf Coast State, Pioneers lost 70 – 62. After going into halftime up by 1 the Pioneers was outscored by five in the third and 4 points in the fourth.

"We failed to get defensive stops, we allowed the officiating to distract us from being aggressive on defense, when playing on the road we have to make sure we are focused and executing the game plan" Coach Robinson noted.

Amarie Godwin led the Pioneers in scoring contributing 14 points, five rebounds and three assists. Breanna Campbell added 11 points and Tavi Habib added 10 and four rebounds.

In the final day of the Rudolph Tournament, The Pioneers was defeated 80 – 72 against DME National Team. Despite having five players in double digits, DME National team outscored the Pioneers 30 to 16 in the third.

In the fourth quarter, The Pioneers fought back hard after being down 15 to outscore DME 32 – 15. Freshmen point guard Amarie Godwin led the River with 16 points and four assists. Maryanne Logsdon added 14 points, Brianna Raynor tallied 11 and Breanna Campbell contributed 10 and five rebounds. Tavi Habib scored 10 points and seven rebounds.

With the lost, the Pioneers are 8 – 6 on the season. The Pioneers will be back in action December 17th and 18th at their Holiday Classic.
