With the Win Women’s Basketball clinched a spot in Region 8 Tournament

Wednesday evening 17th ranked Indian River State College beat Palm Beach State 79 – 77 in overtime. Palm Beach jumped out to a 20-point league in the first quarter beating the River 21 to 6. In the second quarter, the River settled in to outscore the Panthers 22 - 17. Akiyonna Joiner made key contributions for the River hitting big shots to shorten the lead to 10 going into halftime.

After halftime, the Panthers continue to shoot the ball well shooting an impressive 47% from the field. Which caused the River to struggle defensive.

"During the game, I kept telling our team to settle down and get stops. In the second half I believe we created three shot clock violations which allowed us to capitalize on their mistakes," Coach Robinson noted.

The River scored 31 points off the Panthers 30 turnovers, which allowed the River to get out in transition.

The River had three players score double digits, Breanna Campbell added 22 points, 9 rebounds, six assist and 5 steals. Miya Kimber added 19 points and Aniyah Jenkins scored 14 points.

With the win, the River will be heading to Niceville, FL April 5 for the Region 8 State Tournament. The Pioneers are currently in 1st place in the southern conference, 4th in the state of Florida and 17th nationally.
