Women’s Basketball Defeats Palm Beach State College

Wednesday evening Indian River State College host Palm Beach State College in a Southern Conference matchup. In what seem to be a back and forth contest, the River started to pull away in the second quarter, going into halftime up 43 – 24.

In the third quarter the River extended their lead to 25 points. The River was clicking on all cylinders, Maryanne Logsdon continue to shoot the ball well, scoring 20 points shooting 7 for 15 from the field. Sophomore guard Akiyonna Joiner added 13 points and Breanna Campbell added 12.

In the fourth quarter, the Panthers fought back hard outscoring the River 30 to 13. "We wanted to work on someone defensive rotations in the fourth but became sloppy and Palm Beach made us pay for it. We have to do a better job finishing out basketball games after being up by 25 points" Coach Robinson noted.

After overcoming Palm Beach run late the River would go on to win 75 – 70.

With the win The River is currently 8 – 2 on the season and 3 – 1 in conference play. The River is nationally ranked at 23rd and 5th in the State.

The River next home game isn't until March 6th   at 2pm against Florida Southwestern. Both teams are tied for first place in the Southern Conference.
