The River women’s basketball earns first conference win

Saturday afternoon Indian River State College defeated Palm Beach State College 79 – 54. The River started the game exchanging basket with the Panthers for the first two quarters. It wasn't until the third quarter Breanna Campbell took over the game to help the River earn their first conference win. 12 of her total 22 points came in the third quarter helping the River extended their lead to 20 points going into the fourth.

"When Breanna gets into her rhythm she is very hard to guard which helped us get going after halftime" Coach Robinson noted.

The River had three players score double digits, Breanna Campbell leading the way with 22 points, eight rebounds and six steals. Campbell shot an impressive 71% from the field. Sophomore guard Jaqarra Phillips contributed 12 points and Akiyonna Joiner added 11 points.

With the win the River currently stands 5 – 1 and 1 – 0 in conference play. The River will travel to Saint Petersburg College Wednesday evening to face the Titans in a non-conference matchup.
