IRSC Women’s Basketball defeats 24th ranked Eastern Florida

Wednesday evening Indian River State College defeated 24th ranked Eastern Florida State college 77-71. In a highly contested matchup the River shot a season high 44% from the field. In what seem to be a back and forth matchup The River led majority of the game.  

"Coming out of halftime we wanted to make some adjustments on the defensive end and I believe the girls executed our plan perfectly which caused key stops to help us get ahead in the fourth quarter" Coach Robinson noted.

Sophomore guard Maryanne Logsdon scored a career high 23 points with six rebounds, JaQarra Phillips added 15 points and freshmen Aniyah Jenkins was key for the River in the paint scoring 10 points and one rebound shy of a double double.

This win goes down as the biggest win in over a decade for the Pioneers, who currently stand 4 – 1 on the season with its only lost to national ranked Northwest Florida.

The River will be back in action Saturday February 6th against Palm Beach State College.
