IRSC Women’s Basketball Upsets 6th Ranked TCC

Melbourne, FL – Indian River State College Women's Basketball has recorded one of the biggest wins in over a decade, defeating six ranked Tallahassee Community College in the first round of Florida Juco Shootout. The River started the game leading in the first quarter 17 – 8, sophomore shooting guard JaQarra Phillips went 5 for 6 from the 3 point line helping the River win 73 – 48.

"This group is very special and competitive they want to win at everything they do, JaQarra hot shooting got us going in the second quarter which caused us to lead by 20 points at halftime" Coach Robinson noted.

The River had three players in double digits, Phillips led all scoring with 19 points. Sophomore guard Breanna Campbell added 16 points, six rebounds and three steals. Maryanne Logsdon contributed 11 points, four rebounds and six assist.

The River defensive chaos continued causing TCC to turn the ball over 23 times, scoring an impressive 22 points.

"Our biggest challenge coming out of halftime was to finish the game, we understood in our first game we made careless turnovers which costed us. Overall I am proud of the way we got the job done, this win says a lot about where we are headed as a program" Coach Robinson mentioned.

The Pioneers will hit the road Monday evening to face Florida State College of Jacksonville at 5:30pm.
