Indian River Falls on the Road to HCC

Indian River Falls on the Road to HCC

Wednesday night in Tampa, FL - Indian River State College Women's Basketball team fought hard to overcome a sluggish start against Hillsborough Community College. HCC jumped out to a 21 – 12 lead in the first quarter. The Pioneers went on a huge second quarter run to go into halftime down four points. However, Hillsborough upset the River winning 83-67.

"Tonight we did not play our best basketball; we fought hard but never really got going the way we know how. We will take this game and continue to learn from our mistakes," Coach Robinson noted.

The River had four players in double digit scoring, freshmen Maryanne Logsdon led the River with 12 points, four rebounds and five assist. Sophomore Je'Nya wilder scored 11 points and eight rebounds. Jaqarra Phillips added 11 points and Breanna Campbell contributed 10 points.

"Our future here at the River is bright; we have a talented group of freshmen who is learning how to produce at the collegiate leve. Each game we'll continue to improve for conference play starting in January," Coach Robinson mentioned.

The River will be back in action Saturday at Palm Beach State Classic facing Harcum College Saturday and Hartford College Sunday.
