Indian River Extends Winning Streak to 12 with Doubleheader Sweep

FORT PIERCE, FL- Indian River faced off at home against Eastern Florida on Wednesday, March 26 after heavy rains the day before postponed the conference matchup. The River secured a 5-0 victory in Game one, highlighted by sophomore pitcher J'dah Girigorie, who surrendered no runs on just three hits throughout five innings of work. Her performance included eleven strikeouts and zero walks. In relief, Alexa Bethel continued the shutout, pitching two scoreless and hitless innings, striking out three and walking none.

Pontbriant led the team with three hits in three at-bats, while Anaise Piar, Pontbriant, and Presley Smith each contributed one RBI. Third baseman Sarah Phipps also had a strong game, collecting two hits in three at-bats. The River added some insurance runs, scoring four more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, and continued to showcase their speed on the base paths, stealing a remarkable 10 bases throughout the game, led by Phipps' three thefts.
