Indian River Enters Top 5 National Rankings

CHARLOTTE, NC - The Indian River softball team jumped five spots to #4 and enter the top five in the latest NJCAA Division I Softball National Rankings. The early season has the Pioneers off to a 18-1 start, including impressive victories over multiple nationally ranked top twenty opponents. The Pioneers went undefeated (5-0) at the Kickoff Classic Tournament in Clearwater, Florida, opening the season with wins against (#9) Gulf Coast and concluding the event defeating NJCAA DII Nationally ranked #1 Parkland. The Pioneers only setback was versus #3 Wallace State (Alabama) in game one of the Paradise Cove Invitational Tournament held in Naples, FL. Indian River State College won the final three games of the event, including topping #16 College of Southern Idaho and a decisive 12-1 run rule victory over top ten power Chipola College. The team's current win streak sits at 11 games, including a 6-0 Citrus Conference record, highlighted by two home victories over #14 Eastern Florida State.

 

The River keeps busy with six more games this week before Spring Break, including double headers against Macomb Community College, (#3) Florida Southwestern, and State College of Florida-Manatee.
