IRSC Softball Wins Back-to-Back Games on Opening Day

CLEARWATER, FL - IRSC wins back-to-back games on opening day at JUCO Kickoff Classic in Clearwater, FL. After a 24-1-2 fall season, the Pioneers took the three-hour trek to start the season against Florida Gulf Coast. Game one was a rocky start for the Pioneers, falling behind 6-0. But the rally was on, as the offense loaded the bases in the bottom of the fourth. Pinch hitter Kendal Bryant entered the game and delivered in "grand" fashion, crushing a towering bomb over the center field fence. The shot sparked the team's comeback 10-8 victory. Sophomore Emma Solis notched the win throwing four plus innings in relief, giving up two earned runs while striking out three.

Game two saw another high-scoring affair, as Indian River's offense tallied an impressive 11 runs to defeat Georgia Military College 11-6. Freshman Presley Smith delivered three runs home in the top of the third, while fellow Freshman pitchers J'dah Giragorie and Alexa Bethal earned the win and save respectively.

The Ladies play three more games on Saturday, January 27th, squaring off against Tallahassee, South Carolina Union, and Parkland (IL).
