Indian River Wins Double Header vs NJCAA #1 FSW

The Pioneers home on Wednesday, twice knocked off the number one team in the nation.

The wins close the gap in the Southern Conference with Indian River now at 10-3 (FSW 11-2).

Both will play make up games (vs Eastern Florida and vs Miami Dade) to determine the conference champion.

Game One was a close contest in which IRSC prevailed on a seventh inning walk off RBI by Kyla Knier.

Raelyn Roland helped paced the offense going two for three with a walk, stolen base and RBI.  

Alina Varga pitched a complete game, earning her twenty third win of the season (2nd in the Nation).

The victory also ended the Bucs 32 game win streak and their consecutive conference win streak at 67.

 

Game Two watched FSW jump out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but Indian River answered in bottom of the frame with three runs of their own.

The Pioneers would score three runs twice more in the contest, both in the third inning and again in the sixth.

The offense was led by Bridget Dunham and Adrianna Portanova, both going two for three and a walk, with extra base hits and multiple RBI's.

The Pioneers also collectively stole seven bases including three from Raelyn Roland.

Dominique Prevette threw 5 innings, earning her 19th win of the season and remains top five ERA in the nation (.098).
