Indian River Finishes 3rd, Winning 4 out of 5 games at the NFCA Leadoff Classic In Columbus, GA.

The Lady Pioneers were impressive throughout the weekend, notching key victories against quality competition from around the country.

Friday's games included two wins by way of run-rule, including 11-0 versus North Dakota SCS and 9-2 over Triton (Illinois). On the day, the pitching staff combined for 16 strikeouts while the offense collected 24 total hits and added 10 stolen bases. Saturday's games included 3 games highlighted by another run rule in the morning matchup against Rock Valley (8x D3 National Champion). Indian River notched another 14 total on base while Alina Varga struck out 8 and Emma Solis added 2 additional K's to close out the Golden Eagles. The second game battle with # 4 Nationally Ranked Wallace State-Hanceville (AL) went to extra innings, where the Pioneers fell in the 8th during the (Kansas City) tie-breaker format. Zoe Thornsbury and Cambrie Todd had standout performances at the plate in this exciting matchup. IRSC bounced right back to defeat Parkland College (IL) 4-2 in the nightcap where both Todd and Raelyn Roland added clutch last inning RBI's to help seal the game. Over the duration of the event, the Pioneer's pitchers combined for 41 total strikeouts (30 innings) with the team offense adding 45 hits and 19 stolen bases. Next up: Home games March 6th, 7th and 8th.
