Alina Varga had all the right stuff on Friday for IRSC, allowing zero runs and besting College of Central Florida by a score of 5-0.
The right hander surrendered zero runs on only two hits over seven innings, adding eight strikeouts and walking just one.
After an early RBI by Raelyn Roland, the Pioneers added a big fourth inning rally with three runs, including a sacrifice fly by Maeghan Branche and a 2 run HR blast by Kendal Bryant. (Game 2) Indian River dropped the second game 2-0 in spite of a strong performance by pitcher Dominique Prevette, who pitched a four hit complete game, striking out seven and walking none. The Pioneers play next (2/21) at South Florida State College (4pm & 6pm) and are back home Thursday (2/23) vs Daytona State (2pm & 4pm).
