Indian River State Splits With Daytona State on Sunday

Indian River State College fell behind 4-1 in the second inning and couldn't recover in a 4-3 loss to Daytona State on Sunday in Ft. Pierce.

The Pioneers lost the first game of the day despite out-hitting Daytona State 11 to 7.

Jaden Williamson was in the circle for IRSC. The pitcher went seven innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and striking out three.

Brooke Mathews launched her first homerun on the season in the second inning.

Morgan Roberts and Nicolette Luzzi had multiple hits. Roberts led the offense with four hits in four at bats.

In the second game of the day IRSC built an early lead and beat Daytona State 9-5.

The Pioneers scored four runs in the third inning. Jaden WilliamsonDaija Torchia, and Morgan Roberts all had run scoring hits in the inning.

Casey Kurent was the winning pitcher. The righty allowed seven hits and five runs over five and a third innings, striking out three. Devan Ryan threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. Ryan recorded the last five outs to earn the save for IRSC.
