Indian River State College Softball Takes Two from Broward

The 30-1 IRSC Lady Pioneers softball team won both games of a double-header from Broward College on Friday in Ft. Pierce.  The Pioneers won game one 12-0 and took game two 8-0.

In the opening game freshman pitcher Kasey Curent didn't allow a run, throwing a complete game shutout leading her team to a 12-0 victory.

"The River" got their offense started in the first inning when Maeghan Branche homered on a 2-1 count, scoring three runs.

Curent was dominant in the circle for Indian River. She went five innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out four and walking zero.

IRSC tallied eight hits in the game. Caitlyn Comer, Macie Stanfield each collected two hits to lead offense.

In the game two 8-0 win freshman pitcher Taylor Wroten was brilliant in the pitcher's circle tossing a complete game no hitter.

Once again the Pioneer offense got things moving in the first inning when freshman catcher Maeghan Branche drove in two runs on a single to leftfield.

The Pioneer offense continued to roll, scoring three more runs in the second inning. Kirsty Granville and Branche had RBI hits in the big inning. 

Wroten was perfect in the circle for IRSC. She surrendered zero runs on zero hits over five innings, striking out five and walking one.

The Pioneers tallied 13 hits in the game.  Jaden Williamson, Granville, Macie Stanfield and Brooke Mathews all managed multiple hits for "The River". Williamson went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the team in hits.

IRSC returns to the diamond on Tuesday taking on Hagerstown Community College.  Game times in Ft. Pierce are at 2:00 & 4:00.  Admission is free.
