IRSC Softball Goes to 12-0 with Two Wins Over South Florida State

IRSC won two games on Saturday in softball against SFSC in women's softball.  The Pioneers took the opening game 8-0. In the second game the Lady Pioneers once again came from behind winning 4-3. In the game one victory freshman pitcher Jaden Williamson was dominant.  Williamson didn't allow a run while limiting South Florida State to just two hits.  Jaden raised her season record to 5-0.

IRSC got the offense going in the first inning, when Taylor Wroten singled on a 2-2 count, scoring the game's first run.

The Pioneers open a commanding lead scoring four more runs in the fifth inning. Macie Stanfield had an RBI single in the big inning.

Williamson was masterful the pitcher's circle for the Pioneers. In her complete game win she allowed just two hits, no runs, while striking out three.

"The River" racked up 11 hits on the day. Stanfield and Wroten each had three hits to lead the offense.

In game two the game was tied at three with the Pioneers batting in the bottom of the sixth when IRSC pulled off a double steal to score the go ahead run in a hard fought 4-3 win.

Trailing 3-2 IRSC evened things up at three in the bottom of the fifth inning when Macie Stanfield doubled on a 1-0 count, driving in the game tying run.

Stanfield started in the circle for IRSC. She surrendered three runs on two hits over two and a third innings, striking out one. Hailey Astill came on in relief of Stanfield with one out and the bases loaded in the top of the third.  Astill induced an inning ending double play ground ball.  Taylor Wroten (5-0) relieved Astill in the sixth tossing the last two innings to earn her fifth win on the season.  Wroten allowed no hits and struck out three in her two innings of work.

Brooke Mathews, Wroten, Stanfield, Morgan Roberts, Tayler Owen, and Kirsty Granville collected hits for the Pioneers.

IRSC returns to action on Tuesday in Ft. Pierce taking on Florida State College of Manatee.  Game times are 2:00 & 4:00 in Ft. Pierce.
