Indian River Sweeps Miami Dade

 Savanna Julylia's dramatic walk-off two out home run in the bottom of the seventh propelled IRSC to a game one 3-1 victory over Miami Dade. The game was tied at one in the bottom of the seventh when Julylia homered on a 1-1 count. Sophomore pitcher Valerie Alvarado went the distance in the circle raising her season record to 10-2. She surrendered one run on six hits over seven innings, striking out two. Crystal Grimaldo, Adriana Otero, and Julylia each collected hits for the Pioneers.

In game two IRSC put up four runs in the bottom of the fifth to break open a 1-1 tie. The game was tied at one in the bottom of the fifth when Taylor Strickland hit her fifth homerun on the season putting IRSC ahead for good. IRSC opened up scoring in the second inning when Juliana Speranza hit a solo homer. Freshman Dawn Bodrug  (12-6) relieved starter Liz Gollin to get the win. Bodrug allowed one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out four. Freshman first baseman Speranza went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead the offense.

The 41-11 Pioneers next game is against Santa Fe State in Gainesville on April 27th.
