IRSC Wins All Events in Victory Over Florida Southern College

FORT PIERCE, FL- On Friday, December 13th, the men's and women's swimming teams hosted Florida Southern College at Indian River State College, defeating the visitors and winning all 28 events contested.
The women's competition began with the 200 medley relay, where the team of Nika Tomic, Ana Villamil, Kelly Zwart, and Sara Safranko secured the victory. Each member of the relay team went on to win individual events: Tomic claimed the 100 and 200 backstroke, Villamil triumphed in the 100 breaststroke, Zwart dominated the 50 freestyle, and Safranko secured wins in both the 100 and 200 freestyle. Other individual event winners included Aurora Zanin (500 and 1000 freestyle, and 200 butterfly), Paola Gonzalez (200 breaststroke and 200 IM), and Sophia Kogelschatz (100 butterfly). Tomic, Safranko, and Zwart later teamed up with Amelia Brown to take first place in the 400 freestyle relay.
On the men's side, the NJCAA national record-holding 200 medley relay team of Gabriel Morales, Kito Campbell, Oliver Nell, and Riccardo Pandin opened the meet with a victory. In the individual events, Elliot Weisel won the 100 freestyle, Tom Ferguson the 200 freestyle, Campbell took both the 100 and 200 breaststroke, Morales won the 100 and 200 butterfly, Nell secured the 50 and 100 freestyle, Noah Smith claimed the 200 backstroke, Knut Robinson triumphed in the 500 freestyle, and Anderson Brown took the 200 IM. In the final event, the 400 freestyle relay team of Nell, Dre Blanchard, Ferguson, and Morales clinched another win.

Up next for The River is a tri-meet with Univeristy of Tampa and Grand Valley State University. The action will take place on Friday, December 20th, at IRSC, with events scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
