IRSC Sweeps in Double Dual Action

FORT PIERCE, FL - The IRSC Swimming and Diving team competed in home college dual meet action on Friday, January 12th. The Pioneers locked in victories against the visiting teams NOVA Southeastern University and West Chester University.

 

The IRSC women had a slower start having missed the top spot in the first 4 events, but managed to secure wins in 9 of the remaining 10 events with victories coming from Ana Villamil (50 and 100 breast), Sophia Diaz (50 fly) Sara Safranko (50 free and 50 fly), Ane Meier (100 free and 200 IM), and Sally Ouzts (50 back). For the second meet in row, it all came down to the final event, the 400 free relay, where it was the winner takes all. The relay team of Safranko, Villamil, Diaz, and Meier had a dominating performance securing the win and ultimately a meet victory.

On the men's side, the IRSC team came away with a solid victory by taking wins in 10 of the 14 events contested. Team wins included the 200-medley relay which consisted of Felipe Costa, Owen McLaughlin, Tom Ferguson, and Anthony Ambrosi. Double event wins came from Anderson Brown (200 free and 200 IM), Gabriel Morales (50 and 100 back), and Felipe Costa (50 and 100 fly), while single event winners came from Kito Campbell (50 breast), and Riccardo Pandin (50 free). IRSC was also able to secure the win in the 400 free relay with the team of Riccardo Pandin, Owen McLaughlin, Tom Ferguson and Josh Parry.

The final college dual meet of the season will be at University of Tampa on January 26th at 11am.
