IRSC Swimming Defeats FAU

Coming off a successful 2021-22 season that saw IRSC defend their national championship run, the swimming and diving teams hosted Florida Atlantic University on September 23th for an early season swimming and diving dual meet.

Competing against the Owls last season, IRSC was unable to defeat either team. This year however, the men's team came away with a victory and the women's team narrowly missed falling by only a few points.

The women's meet got off to a great start with a win from the 200 medley relay team of Carla Meikle, Masha Prima, Sophia Diaz, and Olivia Ciancimino. This was followed up with wins from Gina Miller (1000 free and 500 free), Meikle (200 free and 100 free), Masha Prima (100 breast), Olivia Ciancimino (50 free), freshman Sophia Diaz (100 fly), and freshman Elizabeth Solano (200 IM). The quartet of Meikle, Miller, Ciancimino, and Prima also ended the meet with a victory in the 400 free relay.

On the men's side sophomore Jack Rowell had two good races in winning the 1000 and 500 free. Also winning events was sophomore William Beckstead-Holman in the 100 back and 100 free, freshman Anthony Ambrosi (50 free), Sam Hlavachek (1m dive), Billy Turnbull (3m dive), Peyton Ming (100 fly), and John Zeiger who tied for first in the 200 back. Sealing the men's team victory in the final relay was the team of Zeiger, Josh Parry, Beckstead-Holman, and Peyton Ming.

Final Team Scores:

Women IRSC 144, FAU 154
