IRSC Swimming and Diving Defeats Keiser and Ave Maria in Tri-Meet

The IRSC swimming and diving teams hosted former NAIA national champions Keiser University and first year program Ave Maria in a double dual meet at the IRSC campus on Friday October 22nd.Both Men's and Women's teams came away with multiple event wins to secure overall team victories against both teams.

Leading the way for the women's team was freshman Carla Meikle who won both her individual events (200 and 100 freestyle) and was part of the winning 200 medley relay with team mates Ella Gates, Rylee Woelk, and Olivia Ciancimino. The forth event win came in the 200 freestyle relay with teammates Sydney Weatherspoon, Olivia Ciancimino, and Lillian Lewis. Ciancimino also won an individual event in the 50 freestyle. Other event winners included Kaylin de Almeida in the 100 and 200 backstroke, Esther Rydbeck in the 1000 freestyle, and Molli Barron in the 500 freestyle. In all River women 9 of the 14 swimming events contested.

In the diving portion of the meet, Lola Dragosavac won the 1m while teammate Madison price took the 3m event.

On the men's side of the competition, the River men won all but one swimming event. Leading the way for the men was Luke Altman who was part of both winning relays and the 50 and 100 freestyle. Other event winners were Jack Rowell in the 1000 and 500 freestyle, Michael Deans in the 100 and 200 breaststroke, Aramis Rivera in the 200 butterfly and 200 IM, John Zeiger (200 freestyle), William Beckstead-Holman (100 backstroke), and Peyton Ming (100 butterfly). The winning relay teams were made up of Beckstead-Holman, Deans, Rivera, and Altman (200 medley), and for the 200 freestyle relay, Altman was joined by teammates Beckstead-Holman, Zeiger, and Caleb Brandon.

The 1m diving event was won by Billy Turnbull and Sam Hlavachek took the victory in the 3m event.

Final women's scores:  IRSC 157 – Keiser 105, IRSC 222 – Ave Maria 31

Final men's scores: IRSC 195 – Keiser 67, IRSC 222 – Ave Maria 32

IRSC will next travel to compete at Florida Southern College on November 5th with a 12pm start time.
