IRSC Extends Winning Streak to 4

TAMPA, FL – IRSC extended it's Region VIII leading winning streak to 4 games with a road victory over Hillsborough Community College on Wednesday night. It was a battle that would have huge implications for fourth place in the Citrus Conference standings. HCC got off to a hot start led by Caleb MacKrey who scored 12 points in the first half spurring the Hawks to a 35-31 halftime lead. However, the second half would be all IRSC as the Pioneers would outscore the Hawks 44-26 in the second period led by a stifling zone defense that held HCC to 20% from three-point range and 38% from the field.

"Road games are always tough especially in the Citrus Conference and when it's a team that's breathing down your neck in the standings," said Coach Morosco. "HCC is a really talented team, they came out with a lot of energy and confidence and I don't think we responded well to it early. But I'm proud of our guys, they didn't quit and half time we made some adjustments that they executed at a high level and it paid off. We just want to peak at the right time and that time is coming soon," he continued.

IRSC was led by Jayshayne Woodard with 19 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Mason Brown added 12 points and six rebounds while Mykol Sanchez contributed 12 points.

The River's next match up will be on Saturday, February 24 when they head to St. Petersburg to face the Titans of St. Pete College. Tip-off is set for 4:00pm.
