Morosco Earns Win #100 with Victory Over Sharks

FORT PIERCE, FL - In the second of back to back games that came down to the final shot, IRSC prevailed in a tightly contested game edging out a 73-71 victory over Miami Dade. Entering Saturday's contest both IRSC and MDC were tied for 4th place in the Citrus Conference. The Pioneers earned a critical victory securing more breathing room in the standings.

The game was a back and forth affair with no team building a lead of more than seven points. IRSC would take a 40-37 lead into the halftime intermission. The second half was a defensive slugfest as both teams struggled to find a rhythm against each other's stiffling defenses. With two minutes to go a three-point shot by Miami Dade's Esteban Lluberes gave the Sharks the 69-67 lead. The River then quickly responded with a three-pointer by Kyle Brown. After a key defensive stop IRSC drained the clock down to 12 seconds before Mykol Sanchez rang in the dagger three-point basket to go up by four. IRSC would hold on for a 73-71 victory.

"I am extremely proud of our guys. [Miami Dade] is a tough and extremely well-coached team," said Coach Morosco. "I think it was big for us to prove to ourselves that we can win a tight, defensive, low scoring game and execute down the stretch and we proved that today."

IRSC was led by Jaysyane Woodard with another triple-double of 14 points, 18 rebounds and 14 assists. Deng Majak had a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds. Mykol Sanchez added 20 points with four three-pointers and Kyle Brown scored 16 points as well.
