IRSC Bounces Back with Big Win against Hillsborough

FORT PIERCE, FL – With a resounding 107-89 victory over a 14-3 Hillsborough team, IRSC made a statement that their early conference woes were over. IRSC had begun Citrus Conference play with three straight road contests, two of which were at #2 Daytona State and #21 Eastern Florida. Finally, hosting their first Citrus Conference home game, the Pioneers enthusiastically enforced a home court advantage. A back and forth first half saw both teams head to the locker room at halftime tied at 50-50. However, the second half was all Pioneers who outscored the Hawks 57-39 in the second period spurred by a stifling defense leading to transition baskets.

"If we play the way we did in the second half the rest of the season, I don't think anyone will want to see us on their schedule," said Coach Bill Morosco. "Now, we have to become more consistent and put together that effort night in and night out for 40 minutes," Morosco continued.

The Pioneers were led by Deng Majak with 30 points, Mostapha El Moutaouakkil with 25 and Jayshayne Woodard with 24. Three other Pioneers all added 8 points a piece those being, Mason Brown, Mykol Sanchez and Kyle Brown.

The Pioneers will take the court again on Tuesday, January 23, at 7:00pm on Mike Leatherwood Court against St. Petersburg College.
