Pioneers Win to Go 11-0

FORT PIERCE, FL – IRSC kept its undefeated streak alive moving to 11-0 on the 2023-2024 season. The Pioneers hosted Mid-Florida Academy on Tuesday on Mike Leatherwood Court just days after defeating #5 Chipola in the Region VIII JUCO Shootout. This would be the first game after being named #21 in the NJCAA National Poll and IRSC's first chance to defend that ranking.

The Pioneers did not disappoint. IRSC, who was without the services of the nation's leading scorer Mostapha El Moutaouakkil, got off to a hot start bringing a 55 to 35 into the half time break against Mid Florida Academy's stingy zone defense. IRSC would build a lead by as much as 54 points in the second half in route to a 116-62 victory. Every player who checked in for the Pioneers would score in this game and 7 Pioneers would reach double figures. IRSC was led by a pair from freshman Mason Brown with 22 points and Frenelson Atilus with 16 points. The two freshman who also starred a nearby Dwyer High School won a State Championship last year for the Panthers.

"As a coach, you're always worried about a let-down after a big win like we had last weekend. It certainly could have happened today in an unorthodox game like this one where we really had to execute on some things that we don't do every day. Several different players came into the game and lifted us up. I was very proud of our bench who I hope can build on this performance" Coach Morosco said after the game.

IRSC will be back in action Wednesday, December 13, against rival Palm Beach State for the last game of the Fall Semester.
