Woodard Voted Player of the Week for the First Time this Season

TALLAHASSEE, FL - Indian River sophomore guard Jayshayne Woodard was named the FCSAA DI Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of 11/27-12/3. In Woodard's only game of the week, a 97-83 Upset over Number 5 Chipola Junior College, Woodard stuffed the stat sheet totaling 15 Points, 17 Rebounds, nine Assists and one steal. Narrowly missing out on the first triple-double of his career.

Woodard, a sophomore point guard from Harlem, NY, is no stranger to individual accolades as in the 2022-23 season he was named the FCSAA DI Men's Basketball Player of the Year, a First Team All-American and FCSAA DI Men's Basketball Player of the Week on two separate occasions.

"I'm very excited for Jay. The transformation he has made from a freshman wing to a sophomore point guard and leader has been truly remarkable. As his near triple double averages show, he impacts almost every facet of the game and I'm glad that he's getting the recognition he deserves," Coach Morosco said.

Woodard's honor comes as the second in a row this season for the Pioneers following Mostapha El Moutaouakkil's honor last week who went on to become the NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball National Player of the week.
