Men's Basketball Win Streak Continues

The Indian River State College Pioneers Men's Basketball Team continued their hot start to the season by sweeping the 23-24 Veteran's Classic, moving to 5-0 on the season.

In game one of the Veteran's Classic, IRSC took on Prestige Academy, in a game that the Pioneers coasted to a 137-62 victory. The Pioneers were led by sophomore Mostapha El Moutaouakkil with 27 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists along with freshman Mason Brown who added 20 points and 6 steals.

Coach Morosco after the game: "I was very pleased with our execution tonight. Last week I thought we had a lot of miscommunication or bad reads during certain situations and tonight I thought we cleaned a lot of that up. We'll need to continue to do so as the schedule becomes more difficult."

The second game of the Veteran's Classic faced IRSC off against Atlantic Cape out of New Jersey, a team who had won over 20 games the past 2 seasons. And had started Fridays game against Eastern Florida on a 15-1 run. The Pioneers had no such intention of keeping this game close for long, they jumped on Atlantic Cape from the start and never looked back cruising to a 111-62 victory. IRSC was led by All-American Jayshayne Woodard who nearly notched a Quadruple-Double with 10 points, 12 rebounds, 8 assists and 6 steals. Four other Pioneers scored in double figures with: El Moutaouakkil (21), Brown (19), Mykol Sanchez (17), and Deng Majak (18).

Coach Morosco after the game: "This is the best we've played all season so far. Our guys were ready. They saw how Atlantic Cape started off against Eastern Florida and our levels of intensity and focus were unmatched. We really took pride in defensive execution and letting our defense turn to offense."
