Men's Basketball Earns Another Southern Conference Win
Indian River Men's Basketball won their 7th straight, and 6th straight Southern Conference win as they defeated Hillsborough 107-93 Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers we able to jump out to a big lead early but Hillsborough cut the lead to just 6 points at the half. Indian River pushed the lead through the 2nd half to come away with a big 14-point win. Sophomore PG Antoine Jacks and Sophomore Ocypher Owens led the way for the Pioneers. Jacks scored 24 points shooting 10/14 from the field, he also dished out 7 assists and had 3 steals. Owens scored a game high 26 points on 9/16 shooting to go with 3 rebounds, a steal and a block. Jayshayne Woodard recorded his 18th double-double on the season with 13 points and 16 rebounds. Jyre Mccloud and Micah Octave scored 13 apiece for the Pioneers. Hillsborough was led by Georden Rogers who scored a team high 23 points. Coach Morosco's thoughts on the game" Hillsborough is a very talented team who has a lot of confident shooters which gives us a big challenge. Our guys did a great job contesting shots as they shot 25% from three. It was a close game the whole way and we did a great job executing down the stretch to secure the win."
