A.J. Cajuste Player of the Year, Charlie Wilson Coach of the Year, 7 Players Honored

Fort Pierce, Florida – The Indian River State College (IRSC) Men's Basketball Team came away with several of the major Southern Conference awards last week.  They won the Southern Conference for the third straight year and finished the conference season with an impressive 11-1 record and a 28-4 overall record.  IRSC Head Coach Charlie Wilson was named Southern Conference Coach of the Year for the third straight year.  His teams have won the Southern Conference four out of the last five years with his teams averaging over 20 wins per season. 

The next big award went to A.J. Cajuste 6'1" point guard who was named Southern Conference Player of the Year.  Cajuste has committed to Stephen F. Austin to further his education and play NCAA Division I basketball. He is currently averaging 19.6 points per game, 5.1 rebounds and 7 assists.  Cajuste scored over 30 points in four contests and scored a career high 36 points against Florida Southwestern College and scored 1000 points in his career as a Pioneer. 

Joining Cajuste on the first team selection were teammates Bendji Pierre and Tyeree Bryan.  Pierre 6'8" forward is averaging 16.4 points per game, 8.4 rebounds, and shooting 54.6% from the field.  He scored over 20 points in 10 games and pulled in double digit rebounds in twelve games.  He scored a career high 40 points against Daytona State College.  True freshman 6'6" Tyeree Bryan rounded out the first team selection.  He averaged 11.7 points per game, shot over 50% from the field and was the second on the team in rebounding with 7.3 per contest.  He scored a career high 33 points against Florida State College at Jacksonville.

The first selection to the second team was do-it-all Jacob Tracey.  Tracey averaged 8.1 points per game, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists.  He was a defensive stopper for IRSC and often started the fast break.  Next on the second team all-conference was sharp shooter Kyle Feit.  Feit has currently made 110 three-point baskets and is averaging 12.5 points per game.  He connected on 11 three pointers against Pasco Hernandez College and scored a career high 33 points.  Jonathan Cisse was also selected to second team all-conference.  Cisse who is always a threat to score averaged 11.4 points per game while shooting over 50% from the field and 44.2% from behind the three-point line.  Shooting guard Doug Young was selected to the honorable mention all conference team.  Young was a spark off the bench averaging 5 points per game and a solid defensive player as well.
