A.J. Cajuste Named NJCAA Region 8 Player Of The Week

Fort Pierce, Florida – A.J. Cajuste was announced as the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 8 Player of the Week.  The sophomore point guard helped the NJCAA #2 ranked Indian River State College (IRSC) Men's Basketball Team to victories over State College of Florida Manatee/Sarasota and #12 Florida Southwestern State College. Cajuste averaged 32.0 points, 6.0 assists, and 1.0 steals in the two Southern Conference match-ups.  He shot 47.5 percent from the field and 40 percent from three and 92.3 percent (24-of-36) from the free throw line, including 16 for 16 against Florida Southwestern. He had a career high 36 points in the overtime win over #12 ranked Florida Southwestern.

Cajuste has helped lead his team to a 21-2 overall record and a 6-0 Southern Conference record.  He played a major role in leading last year's team to back-to-back Southern Conference Titles and IRSC's first appearance in the NJCAA Tournament where they made it to the Elite Eight.  Cajuste has committed to Stephen F. Austin to further his education and play National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I basketball.
