#5 IRSC Men Defeat Hillsborough 74-64

Tampa, Florida – Tyeree Bryan recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead the 5th ranked Indian River State College (IRSC) Men's Basketball Team to a victory over Hillsborough Community College 74-64.  IRSC had a balanced scoring attack with five members scoring in double figures.  Following Bryan in the scoring column were A.J. Cajuste, Kyle Feit, and Jacob Tracey, all with 13 and Jonathan Cisse added 10 points. Tracey filled the stat sheets by pulling in five rebounds, handing out six assists, recording a steal and a block shot to go along with scoring 13 points.

The Pioneers held an early 9-2 lead, but could never increase the margin to more than 7 in the first half.  Hillsborough took the lead a couple of times before Feit connected on a corner three-point shot to give IRSC a slight one-point lead at the half, 34-33.

The game was tied at 59 with just over 10 minutes remaining. Cajuste capped off a six-point run as he drove down the middle of the lane and scored a tough lay-up, pushing the lead to 65-59. Bryan slammed home a lob pass from Tracey extending the lead to eight, 69-61.  On next possession Doug Young hit a deep three-point basket as the shot clock was winding down to give IRSC an 11-point lead 72-61, which proved to be enough to seal the win as the Pioneers notched their 19th win of the season, 74-64.

The win closed out a three-game road trip where The Pioneers found a way to win all three.  "This was a tough week for us," stated IRSC Head Coach Charlie Wilson.  "It took some determination to win all three games, I was impressed with the fight this team showed."  The Pioneers will be at home on January 26th as they take on State College of Florida Manatee/Sarasota.  The game will be held in Fort Pierce on the Massey campus, tip-off will be at 7 p.m.
