Pioneers Finish First Semester With A 14-2 Record And Ranked #12 Nationally

Fort Pierce, Florida – The Indian River State College (IRSC) Men's Basketball Team finished the first semester with an impressive win over North Florida Prep 110-59.  IRSC's record moved to 14-2, one of their best starts in recent history.  "I'm really proud of this team and what they have accomplished, but we need to keep improving as we head into conference play," commented IRSC Head Coach Charlie Wilson.  The Pioneers are ranked 12th in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Poll and ranked 3rd in the NJCAA Region 8 Men's Basketball Coaches' Poll.

IRSC came out strong and never trailed in the game. Bendji Pierre, A.J. Cajuste, and Jacob Tracey combined for 34 first half points to give The River a 56-29 lead at the half.  The Pioneers showed little signs of letting up in the second half as they scored 54 with six team members scoring in double figures.  They were led in scoring by Pierre with 23, Tracey 15, Ocypher Owens 14, Tyerre Bryan and Jonathan Cisse both with 12, and Cajuste added 11 points. This was their seventh game this season to score over 100 points. 

The Pioneers will be back in action at the Jim Grimes Classic which will be held at Eastern Florida State College.  They will take on Shelton State College on December 29th at 4p.m. and Southern Union State on December 31 at 12 p.m.
