IRSC Men Defeat Jacksonville 103-76

Fort Pierce, Florida – The Pioneers got back to their winning ways on Wednesday evening by defeating Florida State College at Jacksonville 103-76.  The offense was much better in the early going as Indian River State College (IRSC) jumped out to an 11-0 advantage.  "We did a much better job in the early part of the game sharing the ball and getting good movement on the offensive end of the floor," stated IRSC Head Coach Charlie Wilson.

IRSC continued to push the ball in transition as Tyerre Bryan scored on a layup with 10:42 remaining in the first half bumping the lead to 29-8.  The Pioneers found themselves in some early foul trouble trying to contain Jacksonville's 6'11" big man with Bendji Pierre and Melvin Edwards Jr. both picking up two quick fouls, but Amir Brikat came off the bench and did a solid job with his interior defense and scored a quick 13 points as IRSC went to halftime with a 58-38 lead.

Jacksonville came out with some urgency and pulled within 14 points, 64-50 early in the second half. Bryan came up big again when he hit a long two-point basket with the shot clock running down to push the margin to 23, 77-54.  IRSC's largest lead came when Jacob Tracey connected on a three-point basket from the corner making the score 94-67 with just over four minutes to go in the game.  The Pioneers closed out the game with a 103-76 victory for their 13th win on the season.

Bryan recorded another monster double-double with 33 points and 13 rebounds.  Other double-digit scorers were Pierre 16, Brikat 13, and A.J. Cajuste with 12 points and a game high 9 assists.  The Pioneers have their last game tonight against Florida Prep which will be on the Massy Campus at 5:30 p.m.
